Every file page displays the controlling license. A package may also contain third-party notices in its archive. Read both before use; a short summary is not a substitute for the full license text.
KivLoft Standard Asset License 1.0
Unless a file page states otherwise, the original asset is published under the KivLoft brand by the service operator and KivLoft retains the rights described below. Third-party components remain governed by their own notices.
Permitted: download the asset for yourself or your organization; use and modify it in personal or commercial end products; distribute the asset only as an inseparable or access-controlled part of an end product; create backups for your team.
Not permitted: sell, sublicense, share or publish the source asset as a standalone file or competing asset pack; make source files extractable from an end product where that can reasonably be avoided; claim exclusive ownership of the original asset; use the asset unlawfully or to train a reusable asset-generation dataset unless the file page expressly permits it.
Seats and contractors: employees and contractors working on your end product may access the asset only for that work and must delete unnecessary copies when their work ends. You remain responsible for compliance.
Ownership: KivLoft retains all rights not expressly granted. No trademark rights are granted. Third-party components remain governed by their own notices.
Termination: the license terminates for material breach that is not cured where cure is possible. Lawfully distributed end products created before termination may remain distributed unless continued distribution itself infringes rights or law.
Warranty and liability: supplied to the extent permitted by law without a guarantee of fitness for a particular project; mandatory rights and non-excludable liability remain unaffected. The complete operator-ready text is stored in docs/legal/KIVLOFT-STANDARD-ASSET-LICENSE-1.0.md.
MIT License
Used for selected source-code packages. It generally permits use, copying, modification, distribution, sublicensing and sale while requiring retention of the copyright and license notice. The exact MIT text included in the package controls.
CC0 1.0 Universal
Used only where the rights holder has intentionally applied the CC0 dedication. It does not eliminate third-party trademark, privacy, publicity or patent concerns.
SIL Open Font License 1.1
Used for eligible fonts. Modified versions, reserved font names, bundling and redistribution must follow the OFL text packaged with the font.
License selection rules
- Original art, models, UI, textures and mixed packs: usually KL-STANDARD-1.0.
- Standalone reusable source code: MIT when intentionally approved.
- Public-domain dedication: CC0 only where the publisher controls all relevant rights.
- Fonts: OFL only when the upstream font is actually under OFL and its notices are retained.
