Asset Licenses

Version 1.0 · effective 13 July 2026

Every file page displays the controlling license. A package may also contain third-party notices in its archive. Read both before use; a short summary is not a substitute for the full license text.

KivLoft Standard Asset License 1.0

Unless a file page states otherwise, the original asset is published under the KivLoft brand by the service operator and KivLoft retains the rights described below. Third-party components remain governed by their own notices.

Permitted: download the asset for yourself or your organization; use and modify it in personal or commercial end products; distribute the asset only as an inseparable or access-controlled part of an end product; create backups for your team.

Not permitted: sell, sublicense, share or publish the source asset as a standalone file or competing asset pack; make source files extractable from an end product where that can reasonably be avoided; claim exclusive ownership of the original asset; use the asset unlawfully or to train a reusable asset-generation dataset unless the file page expressly permits it.

Seats and contractors: employees and contractors working on your end product may access the asset only for that work and must delete unnecessary copies when their work ends. You remain responsible for compliance.

Ownership: KivLoft retains all rights not expressly granted. No trademark rights are granted. Third-party components remain governed by their own notices.

Termination: the license terminates for material breach that is not cured where cure is possible. Lawfully distributed end products created before termination may remain distributed unless continued distribution itself infringes rights or law.

Warranty and liability: supplied to the extent permitted by law without a guarantee of fitness for a particular project; mandatory rights and non-excludable liability remain unaffected. The complete operator-ready text is stored in docs/legal/KIVLOFT-STANDARD-ASSET-LICENSE-1.0.md.

KivLoft Attribution Asset License 1.0

Used only for file pages that expressly identify this license. It grants free personal and commercial use, including modifications and inclusion in games, applications and other end products.

Credit required: place the following notice in credits, an about page, documentation or another reasonable location: Downloaded from kivloft.com - Author: fineYourMind. If the asset is modified, state that it was modified.

Not permitted: sell, sublicense, upload, share, publish or redistribute the original or modified model files as a standalone asset, asset pack, template or extractable source resource. This includes marketplace, asset-library, repository and file-hosting distribution. This restriction does not prevent distribution of a finished game, application or other end product that uses the model.

Teams: employees and contractors may access the files only to develop the end product, must follow the same restrictions and must delete unnecessary copies when their work ends.

Ownership: fineYourMind retains all rights not expressly granted. No trademark rights are granted. The license terminates upon a material breach; where curable, a reasonable cure period may be allowed.

Warranty and liability: supplied to the maximum extent permitted by law without a guarantee of fitness, availability or compatibility. Mandatory consumer rights and non-excludable liability remain unaffected.

MIT License

Used for selected source-code packages. It generally permits use, copying, modification, distribution, sublicensing and sale while requiring retention of the copyright and license notice. The exact MIT text included in the package controls.

Apache License 2.0

Used for eligible fonts and source packages. It permits commercial use, modification and redistribution with the required copyright, license and notice files. The complete Apache 2.0 text included in the package controls.

Third-party software notices

KivLoft uses the following software components. Their licenses allow commercial use when their conditions are followed. The complete notices for the current direct dependencies are available in Third-Party Notices.

  • React and React DOM - MIT
  • Next.js - MIT
  • Supabase JavaScript and SSR clients - MIT
  • OpenNext for Cloudflare - MIT
  • tus JavaScript client - MIT
  • Zod - MIT
  • Three.js 0.185.1, including GLTFLoader, GLTFExporter, FBXLoader, OBJLoader, MTLLoader and OrbitControls - MIT.
  • gifenc and UTIF image codecs - MIT; pako, used by UTIF, - MIT and Zlib.
  • lamejs 1.2.1, used only for MP3 export - GNU LGPL version 3.0; its transitive use-strict package - ISC.
  • Tailwind CSS, ESLint and project tooling - MIT; TypeScript - Apache License 2.0; Wrangler - MIT or Apache License 2.0.

Image conversion, sprite-sheet generation, 2D rigging and 3D material packing otherwise use built-in browser Canvas, File and Blob APIs; the ZIP writer is KivLoft code and does not add a dependency. Audio Converter / Editor uses the browser's Web Audio API for decoding and custom WAV output. Ogg Opus, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg FLAC and WebM Opus exports use the browser's MediaRecorder only when it reports that format as supported; KivLoft does not bundle an encoder for them. Ogg is an open format, and Opus, Vorbis and FLAC permit commercial use without format royalties: Ogg, Opus, Vorbis and FLAC. MP3 export uses the unmodified lamejs 1.2.1 implementation of LAME under the LGPL-3.0. Its corresponding source is available in the versioned source archive; the full GNU LGPL v3 and GNU GPL v3 texts apply. KivLoft does not modify lamejs.

CC0 1.0 Universal

Used only where the rights holder has intentionally applied the CC0 dedication. It does not eliminate third-party trademark, privacy, publicity or patent concerns.

Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported

Used for eligible third-party assets, including the applicable Poly Pizza imports. You may copy, redistribute, adapt and use the asset commercially, provided that you retain the supplied creator credit, link to the CC BY 3.0 license, and indicate derivative changes where required. Do not add legal or technical restrictions that prevent recipients from exercising these license permissions. The original attribution and source link are included in each asset package and file page.

SIL Open Font License 1.1

Used for eligible fonts. Modified versions, reserved font names, bundling and redistribution must follow the OFL text packaged with the font.

License selection rules

  • Original art, models, UI, textures and mixed packs: usually KL-STANDARD-1.0.
  • Standalone reusable source code: MIT when intentionally approved.
  • Public-domain dedication: CC0 only where the publisher controls all relevant rights.
  • Third-party assets under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0: CC-BY-3.0 with the original attribution retained.
  • Fonts: OFL or Apache-2.0 only when the upstream font is actually under that license and its notices are retained.
